Richard Clews has clinched the 2011 REIS MSA Asphalt Rally Championship N4 title. Co-driver Hamish Campbell, sitting alongside Richard for the first time, called the notes to a stunning Class win and an amazing 7th overall position in the UTS Cheviot Keith Knox Stages Rally. The Geoff Jones Motorsport prepared Subaru Impreza STi, powered them faultlessly to victory over the 88 competitive miles of narrow, extremely fast Otterburn tarmac. In-car footage here.
The MSA Asphalt Rally Championship consists of 9 rounds using the most challenging asphalt roads this country has to offer, from Wales to the Isle of Man. The legendary Jim Clark Rally is also a round of the Championship, the only closed road rally on mainland Britain. Televised on Motors TV by MC-Video, footage is also available on YouTube.
Over the last 10 years of rallying Richard has won the 1600cc British Tarmac championship 3 times, in 2007 he won the Front Wheel Drive Championship and in 2009 he won his class in Gp N3. 2011 has been no different, Richard is a National Tarmac Champion again. What will he be in 2012 ?
