Richard
Clews, proprietor of Clews Cars, from Warwickshire,
has been successfully competing in various stage rallies since 2000.
Richards father, John Clews, made his name as a Motoring News competitor
in the 1960's and now contributes years of expertise with Trevor
Godwin, an international rallying stalwart and founder of Coventry
Automotive.
Richard competed successfully, over a three year period, in The
Heart of England rally championship with consistently improving times.
All tarmac events resulted in a top 3 finish with his first class
win in 2001.
Encouraged by their event placings Richard Clews Rallying entered
the British National Tarmacadam Championship 2003, in a brand new
meticulously prepared Peugeot 106 Gti. Encouraged by their placings
during 2003 further development saw this car successfully complete
two full seasons regularly beating larger more affluent teams during 2004 and 2005.
Barry and Richard dominated their class during 2006 and won the Prima Motorsport MSA National Asphalt Rally Championship again!
Richard and co-driver Barry James won their Class and finished an incredible 9th overall on the Cheviot National Rally in October 2005. They set 6 top ten stage times on the fast roads at Otterburn Ranges - an outstanding result for the car and the Team.
The 2007 Legend Fires MSA Asphalt Rally Championship series will continue to receive regular television slots throughout 2007 on
Channel 5 and Granada Men & Motors.
The team has ongoing coverage in local, national newspapers
and motoring publications including Heartland Evening News and National publication Motorsport News.
